The formation of this group of three was the first step on the path to reintegration – an objective that had never been lost sight of. Organizationally and in terms of business, the separate banks worked together as closely as the statutory regulations allowed. For example, the management boards of the three successor banks met regularly at joint meetings to coordinate the development of their three banks. At the same time, efforts were increased to remove the legal barriers preventing their merging.

The amalgamation agreement concluded by the three management boards on March 3, 1957, was approved by the shareholders of the successor banks at three general meetings on April 26, 29 and 30, 1957.
