DAB Kobe branch |
 |
The second Japanese branch was opened in Kobe on May 15, 1906, in order to supplement the activities of the Yokohama branch by its concentration on business in bills of exchange. The business, however, started only with difficulty, so that in 1908 considerations were even made to close the Kobe branch, which, however, did not happen. Shortly before the First World War - which the Kobe branch experienced almost exactly the same as the Yokohama branch - DAB was able to purchase the building pictured here, which it had previously rented. After the DAB branch was destroyed in Yokohama, its business was transferred to the Kobe branch. The declining assets in DAB's Japanese business ultimately led to the closing of the branch in Kobe in May 1932.
