In the following sections, the Asian branches of Deutsch-Asiatische Bank before the First World War will be presented. The pictures give a good idea of how representative European bank architecture was transposed to the expanding trading centers in the Far East, however, in some cases with the typical attributes of the colonial building style (Hankow, Canton). For already existing buildings, the local architecture was retained (Singapore, Kobe). A few of the bank buildings have been preserved until today (Beijing, Tsingtao, Calcutta) and vouch for - even if now in a changed usage - Deutsche Bank's presence in the Asian region extending back into the 19th century.
